I was born in Vermont in 1941 and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1964. I married Sherrill Nott in 1965 and have two daughters.
I took my first lessons in clay in 1984. I studied at the DeMatt Gallery, East Lansing Arts Workshop ,and the Potter's Guild, where I was a visiting potter for two years. I am a founding member of Clay Works and an instructor since 1994.
It is the tactile nature of clay that is it's greatest lure to me and why I am still potting-whether wheel or hand building. I feel very fortunate to have able to apply myself to the endless learning experience of clay. I find I learn as much as an instructor as do those I teach.
There is no more rewarding accomplishment than to conceive and carry out a successful piece of pottery. Having nearly thirty years in clay, I am in it for the long haul.
